Inspired by the lifelong dreams of lifelong skateboarders Adrian Frost, Dan Askew, and Nick Owen, ESCAPIST was established May 2000 with a goal to not only provide Kansas City skateboarders with the best selection of skateboarding products in town, but to strengthen the Kansas City skateboard scene and bring national attention to it. Something they’ve accomplished time and time again with free events that get the skateboard community involved such as pro demos and autograph signings and video premieres, as well as by sponsoring a dozen of Kansas City’s best skateboard talent such as world renowned skateboarders Sean Malto and Ernie Torres who make a living traveling the world riding their skateboards.

We are proudly the city's premier skateboarder owned, skateboard focused skateshop, offering the largest selection of skateboard decks and shoes in the entire metro area. ESCAPIST specializes in offering exclusive core skate clothing and footwear, not available anywhere else in Kansas City and our employees have several years of first hand skateboarding experience, which ensures that our customers receive knowledgeable assistance, something you simply will not find in the larger chain stores.

We live and breathe skateboarding and are here to support it, to give back what it has given so much to us, and pass it on to the next generation.
